Today, 1 April 2023, I touched down in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. This takes my country tally to 169 countries and territories, or 63% of the world total. My previous 'acquisition' was Nepal; the next target is unclear at this stage, but watch this space.
I use the 'been' app to keep track of my countries. The orange bits are the places I have been, while the grey bits are those countries I have yet to visit. The 'been' app is useful for capturing a snapshot of visited countries, given how the world looks at this very moment. The app does not give credit for visits to countries that no longer exist, such as East Germany, Yugoslavia, or Sudan prior to its division into Sudan and South Sudan.
